Friday Feature: So Delicious Coconut Milk Treats
Posted in Friday Feature, Vegan on April 15, 2011
After giving it a lot of thought, I have decided to post about some of my favorite kitchen/cooking/baking/food products. On my other blog, I used to (and sometimes still do) feature products on Fridays, and with our switch to dairy free, I thought it might be useful to see what we are using.
DISCLAIMER: PLEASE READ THE LABELS YOURSELF TO ENSURE THE PRODUCT IS TOLERABLE IN YOUR SITUATION.
Though we do not know dairy is definitely the culprit for my son, as in the past he has done fine with very limited amounts (having a very minor reaction at most), we are considering staying diary free (or mostly dairy free) for the long haul.
Not all of the features will focus around dairy free, but most of them will end up that way because of what we eat/don’t eat right now.
So– the first product I will share:
Turtle Mountain has a wide variety of products available– with and without soy– and we especially like their coconut almond minis and banana split sandwich minis. With so many frozen treats containing dairy, this allows us to have a decadent treat to cool off during the summer. I first discovered these a year or two ago, and I like them more than the dairy version produced by other companies.
One thing I like about Turtle Mountain is they clearly mark their products as Kosher Parve, and their website contains clear and easy to access allergen information. Many products are also certified as non-GMO, Vegan, and/or organic– all of which can be found in their labels and online. As a label reader, this is VERY helpful for me.
Do you have a favorite dairy free summer treat? If so, what is it?
